Time to update! And When Can Newly Rebonded Hair Be Washed?

Because I have a new colleague today all of a sudden. His name is Choor Hong (I think it's spelled like this) and he is quite cute lah. =D

When Alvis, Chee Lin, Shi Yee and Chiau Hong left, I had four new colleagues right? And I seriously thought that there weren't anymore vacancies so when people asked me if there was, I always said no. But all of sudden today, came Choor Hong. -__-

But he's quite cute lah, adorable. =D Shy. Haha. I wonder if he knows my age? Because if I do tell him, I don't think he's gonna be that intimidated by me anymore. Muahahahahah YESH he is now quite intimidated by me because I am so big and scary =DDDD

But I where got big and scary? I am just BIG (in every sense of the word) mah. I feel so hurt everytime people tell me "Ey you know ha, when I first met you, I didn't dare talk to you because you look so scary and lan si." -__-

So now everyday I must put a a BIG BIG BIGGGGG smile to every stranger I come across, lest in future we do become friends, just so he/she wouldn't think that I am a big scary and lan si person. =D

But then they will think I am a big slut and/or crazy person.

Humans just will find any way to make you sound bad right.

Also, I STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!! =DDDD

And I realise alot of people who research stuff about Rebonded Hair are often led to my blog, and some are even sending comments asking me about it.

So this is dedicated to YOU. (who wants to know about rebonding) =D

Except of course, this is not professional advice, just advice from my experience:

You can wash your hair ONE DAY after you rebond you hair. It is fine. You can actually even wash on the actual day itself, if I'm not wrong. But to be safe, wait for a day, and then wash it. =D

If you want to wait longer, because you're afraid to take the risk, then I suggest about three days. But there is actually no difference (as per my experience) than waiting just one day. It just makes you feel better right. (=

Also, just make sure after you wash, blow dry it. Or leave it to dry freely and DON'T lean on your wet hair or it will stay that certain shape. If you're sitting on a sofa, pull your hair to the front so that you will not lean your head on it, causing it to be squashed into a certain position. Which when dried, will become that shape permanently. (not permanently lah, but you know what I mean)

And NEVER NEVER go to bed with your rebonded hair wet. Same reason as above.

Lastly, the straightness of your rebonded hair also actually depends on the type of hair you originally have. If your hair is FRIZZY, then your rebonded hair will return to its original frizzy state in a short period of time. And if your hair is originally quite soft and straight, then it will remain straight for a longer period of time.

Also, it depends on how you take care of your hair. Don't go out in the sun too much, and obviously, don't go out swimming in CHLORINE water right after you rebond, because it will damage your hair. (=

And MUST use hair conditioner everytime you wash your hair. =D And also, go for hair treatments (available at hair salons, RM30-40) every once in a while. (=

AND okay lah, I know I said LASTLY in the previous paragraph, but all of sudden got so many things come to my mind mah, haha.

Hope my info helped! =D

But of course, this is all not really professional advice, and only based on my personal experience, but I have todate rebonded my hair four times already. So I should know right. =D

Adioh!

PS> Remember to say thank you if this helped you okay! =D

i rebonded my hair ytd..but i wet my hair this morning accidently..
i do not have a hair dyer so i just left it be..
after it dry..i found that my hair become fizzy..
so i just use flat straightener..it look great back..
would it look fizzy again after i wash my hair 3days later?

Jo-Yee said...

Hi! It's me here. ;)
Well to your question..
i mean, thru my experience la.. i think it should look fine after 3 days..
bcos u already rebonded ur hair right? so the chemical already makes it stay str8..
just make sure tht after u wash it, dont leave it hanging wet or accidentally lean on your hair.. or it might bcome a certain permanent shape!

happy str8 hair! ;)
hope this helped!

Hello :] I just rebonded my hair today, and I have to tie it up for school on monday. I've got this kind of clips : http://sg.images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fsg.images.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dhair%2Bclips%26ei%3Dutf-8%26fr%3Dyfp-t-101&w=250&h=250&imgurl=www.fashion-hair-jewelry.com%2Fshop%2Fimages%2FJ28432_Sm.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fashion-hair-jewelry.com%2Fjaw_clips.php&size=7k&name=J28432+Sm+jpg&p=hair+clips&oid=e7bf7e8a7e59da5e&fr2=&no=20&tt=105755&sigr=11hsu17ke&sigi=11m8j2sou&sigb=12it93qrj&type=JPG

clip no:J28432. I am wondering if it's alright to use that. Cause they say something about not pulling it back. If not, do you have any ideas on how to tie up my hair and not affecting the effect much? Thanks :D

Jo-Yee said...

hi! ;)
well, for me, i just tie my hair with the loosest (most loose) rubber band i have at home. (: but of course, it still has to hold up my hair la.. haha

but sometimes, i even just tie my hair loosely to school, n when teacher is not around, i will let my hair go, and when teacher comes back, i will tie it back.. hehe

\but then that's not necessary la.. i have one friend who ties her hair very tightly to school, even just after she rebonded, but her hair still remains str8 and silky after she wash it..

it depends on how u take care of ur hair and the type of hair u have actually. (:

so dont worry, ur hair will be fine (:

Hi... My name is Samantha... I had my hair rebonded last month... and school starts on Monday... I'am wondering if you can tie your hair up, or is it bad??? My hair is shoulder length... and if has to be tied up... but my mum wont let me.... Is it bad to tie your hair up? Thanks it would be really nice if you could reply back A.S.A.P :D

Jo-Yee said...

Hi Samantha.. (: Joyee here.
Hmm.. for your case, the best way is to just tie your hair LOOSELY with a LOOSE rubber band or just a ribbon..
Do not tie it tightly or not it may maintain the tied-up wave shape!
(:
It's ok to tie, just make sure it's loose. Hee. Last time I did this, I tied my hair with a ribbon, and whenever therr wasnt a teacher in class, i just let my hair go! (:
and only tie it back when teacher comes in.. hehe

all the best girl! (:

Can tie up my hair after rebonding rit after 3 days?

Anonymous said...

Can i tie up my hair after rebonding and is rit after 3 days?

Jo-Yee said...

cottonroll: sorry for the delay!

actually, we can wash our hair right after rebonding, but we r not recommended to do it bcos the saloon people might worry that we dont know the correct way to dry our hair afterwards...
the part to dry our hair after rebonding is the most important... because it will determine how our hair will be like...
so it is best recommended to dry newly rebonded hair 2-3 days after the process, to allow the chemicals to set in first..
then it's not so risky (:

hope this helped! ;D

Jo-Yee said...

anonymous: thanks for stoping by my blog! :D

when you say tie it do you mean after washing or before washing? (:

before washing: u can tie your hair, but must use a LOOSE LOOSE rubberband... so that it will not leave marks on your newly straight hair (:
but it is recommended that u dont tie, because it might leave marks... :D

after washing: u can tie ur hair, but the same thing, use a loose rubberband. never tie ur newly rebonded hair tightly as it may leave marks on it... (:
remember that after u wash it, you should also allow it to dry loosely and freely, and dont lie down with ur hair wet...

what i always do is, i only tie when i absolutely have to, like going to school, but after school, i immediately take out the rubberband... hehe

hope this helped! good luck! :D

My fren says tat only 1 month after the rebonding then can up my hair,do u tink its necessary?

Jo-Yee said...

no no, it's not necessary (=
about one or two days after that you can already tie it up.. just that dont tie it too tight...
about one month later, probably u can tie up your hair a little bit tighter...
but usually, with rebonded hair, the best is not to tie it tightly, no matter how long u've had it rebonded. tying your hair too tightly is never good for hair (=

Anonymous said...

Will my hair turns out to be dry?

Jo-Yee said...

no probs! ;D

for some ppl, whose hair quality is not so good, it may become dry... that's why it is recommended that u always go for regular treatment and use conditioner every time u wash your hair... and also make sure u put leave-on moisturizer for your hair too...
there are some cases where the person's hair is damn healthy even without any treatment, but usually it only happens to those people who r very healthy physically, and have natural healthy hair before they rebond it...
it is best that u take good care of your hair and provide sufficient nutrients that your hair needs (:
take all the steps, and then ur hair wont be dry...

Anonymous said...

which brand of shampoo would u recommend

Tasha said...

Wat's leave-on cream?

Jo-Yee said...

hmm,, for shampoo i am not very sure, but you should always use what is best suitable for your hair (:

brands like sunsilk (which i am using), rejoice, pantene, dove are good brands.

always make sure you buy shampoo which are chemocally certified, or like, 'branded' shampoo. i find those to be better than brands like giant. or tesco... lol

the price of the shampoo usually shows its quality. dont be afraid to pay abit more for shampoo, because it will keep your hair healthy and well taken care of... (:

but, always make sure to test out all shampoo to find the one that is most suitable for your type of hair...

some shampoo, after using it for awhile, your hair may become immune to it. like, the shampoo wouldnt work as well as it did like when you first started to use the shampoo, when that happens, just get another good brand to replace it... (:

always replace your shampoo every few months. that way your hair can stay smooth and soft.

but this is just all from my experience and not professional advice ya... hehehe

thanks for dropping by! (:

Jo-Yee said...

tasha: leave-on moisturizer is like a cream for your hair.. it supplies nutrients and keeps your hair soft and smooth. (:

u can find leave-on moisturizers at saloons or supermarkets... they work really well if u use it regularly :D

thanks

How long will rebonding takes?

Jo-Yee said...

tasha: no probs ;D

zhixuan: erm for long hair bout 3 hours i guess? depends on the saloon actually.. (: it used to be much slower.. but now they're much quicker :D

zhi xuan said...

my hair starts to curl bac at the sec day,wat can i do?

Jo-Yee said...

zhixuan:

sometimes this happens. try to wash it again, and blow it dry and see if it remains straight. usually it will be straight after you wash it (:

but if it doesnt, you can go back to the saloon where u rebonded your hair, and demand for a compensation or redo. because if its permanent rebonding it should stay straight for at least 6 months

(:

hello, i just re bonded my hair yesterday, but for some reasons I HAVE TO wash it tomorrow, that is after 1 day, would it be ok, and would it be better if i use conditioner and all??

Jo-Yee said...

hi hi (:

well, i guess it SHOULD be ok, if you blow dry it properly afterwards... just make sure you do not lean on your hair, or leave it wet... blow dry it straight and i guess it should be fine (:

I'm just worried that my hair might turn out bad.

hi Jo-Yee... i rebonded my hair yesterday ie 29th of june my school reopens on 4th july can i tie my hair on 4th?? please help...

Jo-Yee said...

anonymous 1 : well, yes you can do that, but you need to ask advice from your hair person first.. because diff people's hair may react differently in diff situations (:

anonymous 2 : well, that's about 4-5 days right, then it should be ok (: but rmb, not to tie your hair using very tight rubberband, or it may leave a mark on your hair, just tie it moderately loose, as in, just to hold the hair up and not tie it tightly at the top of your head (:

Anonymous said...

Hello! May I ask you a question?

I just rebonded my hair last night and my hairdresser told us to wash it after 2 days. But I have to go to school with fresh feeling. So is it okay if I wash my hair after 1 and a half day only?

Anonymous said...

Uhm to be exactly.. Can I wash it after ONE day only? :)

Jo-Yee said...

anonymous : yes you can. but there are some circumstances/side effects or none. you can read my previous comments to find out cos i've already posted the same things so many times lol

but in short, you can wash it after ONE day if you blow dry it and not allow it to stay a certain shape and if your hair is not of the very curly frizzy type.

cheers!

Anonymous said...

hi.. i have a question i rebonded my hair 22 days back, 2 days back i tied them very tightly, and after washing them i saw a tie mark on my hair, im very worried about it, plz give me any suggestion, what should i do for that mark, can this tie mark be removed?

Jean said...

Hello! Thanks for the tips. :)
I just have a question. I rebonded my hair yesterday but I already wore a headband today because it was so hot. I wore it for 3 hours. I just noticed it now but there's something like a bump on the top part of my hair, near the roots! Will it stay there permanently??? (if you know what I mean, hahaha) I'm really worried. Also, when I tie my hair and it leaves marks, will it disappear if I wash my hair? There are no marks yet but just in case, I need to know. :))

Thank you in advance.

Erm...hopefully you saw my comment...
Sherry here, I just perm my hair yesterday (it actually will become wavy hair behind) then i got my fringe(front hair) straighten...is it okay that i can wash today? coz that person say if i only curl my hair i can wash on the second day, but because of rebonding on my front...i have to wait for 3 days...is it necessary?

Jo-Yee said...

Jo-Yee said...

sherry: hi! erm, i think you can wash it.
but make sure you blow it straight and dry after you wash it or not if you leave it to try on its own, it will easily become curly again.
it's actually ok to wash it right after u rebond, because the chemical is already infused into your hair to make it straight.
what's important is that you make sure you do not lean on your hair, or clip it up. DRY IT WITH BLOW DRYER, BLOW IT STRAIGHT right away. because when it's dry, it won't get stuck to a certain angle. it will hang freely and straight :)
hope this helps :D

hi... i had my hair rebonded just last wednesday ( Jan 11), is it okay if id go back to the salon today (Jan 13) to have my hair colored? I need to be sure if it's okay..thanks

Jo-Yee said...

hi hi :)
hmmmm, i think it should be ok provided your hair is not those brittle and bad quality one.

however, i think u should consult your professional hairstylist first. because i have friends who just rebonded and then went to dye their hair, and it turns out just fine. only that it will become very dry, it's normal, because of all the chemicals.

and i also have friends who rebond and then dye their hair, turned out their hair started to break and become frizzy! so it depends on your hair actually.

my advise is to ask your hairstylist if it is suitable to be done. :)

thanks for commenting!

hi, i have a question. i had my hair rebonded 4 times already, in different salons, but it's always the same. when i wash my hair, it always goes back to my original hair. do you have any advice? ;) thanks

Jo-Yee said...

hi! wow, you did four times but all go back to the same condition? hmm

you should go ask your saloon about it. bcos since you paid for the permanent rebonding, then your str8 hair should last! D: go get a refund from them if your hair is not the way you want!

or what you can do is apply str8 hair serum to it, so that it remains str8 more easily. maybe you can wash your hair 4 or more days after you rebond? give your hair more time to absord all the chemicals before you wash them off. :)

if it still goes back to your ori hair, then go back to your saloon and demand an explanation! you shouldn't have to pay so much if it doesn't stay the way you want! :)

Jo-Yee said...

hi, i am not entirely sure if you should go swimming or if it has any effects, but if it was me i wouldnt swim first.. i will wait at least one month because it is better not to risk it right? rebonding so expensive some more lol
i am not sure but i think the chemical in the pool might wear out all the chemicals in your hair that make it straight.. so either get a shower cap to swim, swimming caps are too tight and some are not water proof so it will affect your hair, or dont get the pool water on your hair. :)

Hi! Just wondering, why are your hair is like not stick straight? Ive rebonded my hair 3 times already but the result is always the same, I mean, it is straight, but it is too straight :/ And one more thing, youve done it plenty of times already, dont your hair get frizzy? Mine will start to get frizzy after 3-4 months and I hate it so much :/ From your personal exp, does the treatment really helped? I mean, can the result be seen or it is only good for the hair but we cant see it, if you know what I mean:D Thanks!!:)

Jo-Yee said...

hi sheiloh831

hi! i guess it's common to have the one inch of hump at the roots, because some hairdressers will try not to straighten your hair all the way to the root either because it will be too hot on your scalp or so that it wouldn't look too stick-straight after you rebond your hair. the hump to my knowledge is actually the remaining of your original unstraightened hair. :)

but i could be wrong though and maybe after washing the hump may disappear. anything, just wait for about 3 days after you straighten your hair before you wash it just in case. :)

Jo-Yee said...

hi anonymous! :)

ya after i straightened my hair it is not usually stick straight because my hair strand is very thick plus i have alot of hair. so it will look straight but a bit volumous because of the volume of hair i have on my head. :) either that or my hair is originally wavy, so the very-staightened effect only lasts for awhile...

if you dislike the stick-straight look, you can opt for relaxing instead of rebonding which is essentially the same thing, but relaxing looks less harsh and stick-straight but still looks straight. :) ask your hairdresser about it!

i've rebonded my hair many many times, and yes they get dry but not to the extent that they are frizzy. i recommend only rebonding your hair after you have cut off all your previous rebonded hair. because to my knowledge rebonding rebonded hair is very damaging and in some cases your hair might even break!

and usually i wait until all my new hair is all grown put, cut off my rebonded hair before i go for another session of rebonding. :)

and for the treatment i know what you mean haha. i also ask that question myself too. i guess for the immediate effect my hair does feel way softer and smooth, but after i wash it, it willg o back to its original state. so i guess the treatment is healthy for our hair in some way, but only we can't notice it so fast. maybe in the long run we will realise our hair has actually gotten better.

but from what i've seen from some of my friends who regularly do hair treatment, their hair does feel better and is of better quality. :)for me i don't do treatment regularly because i have no time/money so i can't experience it myself! haha
