Make-up tutorial: How to change yourself from super ugly to okaylah quite pretty

IMG_20130930_1

LOL

Nice or not my blog title hahahahaha

Before I start did you guys hear about the stupid news about how Ke$ha allegedly got imprisonment threats if she went ahead and performed her concert here? Wtf man these people have nothing else better to do in their lives.

They think they are doing the right thing but the only thing they have managed to accomplish is to put Malaysia on the list of ‘Most closed-minded and ridiculous and petty and childish countries in the entire world’.

Okay, on to my tutorial. I must say this is not one of my best eye-brows, but the double eyelids and fake drawn-on bottom lashes are actually not too bad haha.

IMAG4646IMAG4649

Nah, as you can see, this is me with coloured lens on. I’m sorry I didn’t put a photo of me without coloured lenses but because it’s too ugly lah

Okay on the left photo I didn’t stick on double eyelid stickers so my natural eyelids look a bit lopsided. On the right photo I’ve already stuck on double eyelid stickers and my eyelids look more balanced already. But my eyes memang one big one small one so don’t mind that ok haha

IMAG4652IMAG4655

Now I’ve applied dark brown eye shadows at the outer ends on my eyelids. Medium brown in the middle, and very light in the inner corners. It doesn’t have to be dark brown, medium brown then light brown la. As long as the three colours you decide to use are descending in shades la. Like probably Brown, then Gold, then Pearl colour, like that also works one.

As you can see I also drew on eyeliners with a little wink at the ends. As you can see the eyeliner is visible from the inner part of eyes till the ends. That’s because I’ve stuck on double eyelid stickers and they kind of lifted up my lids and gave more space in between for me to draw the line.

But if I didn’t stick double eyelid stickers, the black line is not visible at the inner corners one, only the wink will be visible. Very ugly one.

That’s why even though people keep complaining that my double eyelid sticker is very visible and awkward-looking on my eyelids I don’t care and will still stick them lah. Haha

IMAG4656

Then, eyebrows! As you can see, I have very little brow hairs one. So I take that as an advantage and draw a brow shape that I like. But in this tutorial my eyebrows are not very nice lah, but I lazy to erase and draw again. But they are still acceptable lah next time I do a better one.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also drew on bottom lashes with my eyeliner haha. Just anyhow draw little strokes that frame your eyes then can already.

IMG_20130821_040217

Then fix your hair apply blusher on the apples of your cheeks and ta-dah!

If you look at my eyes closely you can see the visible double eyelid stickers that people keep complaining about lol

I also shaded the sides of my with nose shadow powder to make my nose appear smaller and higher haha

IMG_20130821_040101

Profile view.

Now, for my favourite part of all make-up tutorials: Before and After! Haha

IMAG4695

I erased one side of the make up haha

Damn ugly right my browless face urghhh and the left side my eye looks visible smaller than the one with make-up hehehe

Hope you enjoyed! Haha BYE!

Hi alls.

Feeling a bit crazy right now because I only had an hour of sleep last night. Blame it on procrastination. And traffic jams. And bad miscalculation on my part.

So what’s happened is I had a film review due today and I began doing it yesterday evening at about 5pm. Had writer’s block, gave up and went to watch TV outside. Returned to my film review every few hours and soon I realised it was already 1230am shit.

Sad down on got to business. Finished it after racking my brains out. Looked to the clock, 230am shit. Would have to print it at college tomorrow. Started packing to go back to UM. Finished packing at about 315am.

Went to bed. No wait, LZ called for about an hour. Tried to sleep. Fell asleep only after half an hour. Finally dozed off for about a second and was aroused by the stupid alarm.

6am in the morning. Gotta head on to UM. Yes, 6am. The Federal Highway jam is a nightmare from 630am onwards. So is the NKVE. So, 6am it was.

Arrived and decided I didn’t want to sleep before my 9am class. Cleaned up my hostel room a bit, found out we had a new roommate! Have yet to meet her, though, she still isn’t back from holiday. She is a Law student! (I discovered after nosing around in her stack of books) Hopefully she speaks English with me?

Anyway. Got ready at 8am. Went to the printer shop downstairs, it was closed. Dammit. Checked the sign on the door: Open from 830am. Fine. Would come back later.

Went back at 840am (gave them a grace period of 10min to be late/get things started up). NOT OPEN FUCK THIS SHIT.

Rushed to UM (my hostel is located outside of campus) in search of printer shops. Went to the regular, not open FTS. Went to another, thankfully it was. Printed out the assignment for submission and rushed to class. Dr Adis doesn’t like late-comers.

Arrived on the dot. Dr Adis walked in within a couple of minutes. Looked into my face and demanded why I had missed two of his classes last week. Abashedly replied that I was on holiday. He smiled and walked away. I like him.

Handed in my assignment. Sat through two very excessively long and info-packed presentations by two of my classmates. Impressed by seemingly Chinese-educated classmate’s command of English. VERY impressed by Chinese-national classmate’s excellent command of English. (Though her accent was a bit difficult to catch initially)

Dr Adis reminded us about tomorrow’s replacement class. Was met with disagreements; some classmates already have classes at the proposed time. Postponed to next Friday. Grumbled. Had packed clothes for two days’ stay in college. Had plans to stay till Friday evening before leaving home. If there had been no class on Friday, would not have packed at all. Would drive to class and then drive back home after class.

But what’s done is done. Will take full advantage of UM’s speedy internet and leave maybe on Friday. Bored at home anyway.

Came back to college without lunch. Ee Vonne had fled to meet her boyfriend. I have no friends. I am a loser.

Decide not to eat lunch. Type this. Typing this. Will sleep after this.

Dunno what else to write about.

Goodbye.

Shall leave you with a pretty photo of me.

See ya.

I feel so detached from the world nowadays. Almost like Nearly-Headless Nick. No, even worse than Nick because at least he’s still a bit attached, I feel like I’ve completely been washed ashore of another beach across from the one where everyone else is.

I don’t know. But when I turn on Facebook nowadays, all I see are endless drones and whispers by people who are a world apart from me, in whom I have the slightest interest. Every here and there I see a status I can relate nothing to and even when there are statuses which involve me, I somehow feel like I’m a third person watching from above. Like I’m some sort of astral projection looking down upon the lives of others like in Insidious.

I haven’t been in regular contact with any of my friends, and recently I haven’t been doing anything remotely progressive in my life. I’m just going through the motions, living life as I’m being swayed slowly in my little boat in the middle of the giant sea. I wouldn’t complain usually, but the thing is, I’m starting to get motion-sickness.

I wish this is all due to PMS (it is time, after all) or that it’s just one of my once a couple of months kind of breakdown moments so that in a week’s time I’d be up and running again.

It sure does feel like shit to be alone.

HELLO HELLO

I have something to show you all!

.

.

.

IMAG4978

Ta-dah!

I DIY-ed my fan to rainbow blades! So pretty right!!!

I bought three different colour papers in pink yellow and orange! Orange is actually my least favourite colour of all colours in the world so don’t ask me why I got it.

I actually intended to get pink, turquoise or some mint green and a pastel purple/lavender colour but I only managed to find the pink one.

In the end I thought I would get other happy colours because I was afraid if I got dark colours, when my fan blades spun they would merge together and become brown wtf

I actually got the idea to DIY my fan from a DIY account on Instagram which had like a million followers and this was the photo that was posted!

rainbow-fan

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.incrediblethings.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/rainbow-fan.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.incrediblethings.com/home/this-diy-rainbow-fan-is-totally-cool/&h=326&w=570&sz=73&tbnid=wImxIGgdBJAcJM:&tbnh=73&tbnw=128&zoom=1&usg=__F4sKX2NgeLUbpRj2vj0OkRQKIJ4=&docid=4hImhQe3fCW-BM&sa=X&ei=9rpDUuzUMsPwrQegloHYCw&ved=0CC4Q9QEwAQ

So pretty right???

So I got my papers and painstakingly measured, drew and cut each piece of paper to fit the front and back of my fan blades. Ok my boyfriend helped me with most of it lol but I did all the cutting ok because it is common knowledge that one should never trust boys with scissors wtf

We used double-sided tape to stick the papers onto the blades.

IMAG4977

I couldn’t wait to see the results!

And…

.

.

.

.

.

IMAG4980

Ta-dah!!!

Omg so pretty right!!!

It is like seeing a multicoloured ferris wheel everytime I turn my fan on!

But…..

That was a lie.

Like every DIY art ever introduced, there is always this little part where things can go wrong, or go untold.

In this case, that is:

IMAG4979

When the fan spins fast (which is whenever you turn it on wtf) the colours of the blades all merge together to become: ORANGE. W.T.F kua kua kua kua…..

But I really should have known right. Red + Yellow was bound to end up orange, add in another orange blade and wtf orange times TWO.

ARGGHHHHH.

And do you remember me saying that orange is my least favourite colour of all the colours in the world?

ISH.

The triple-coloured spinning blades I managed to capture on photo above is actually taken when the fan was turned off and the blades were slowly coming to a halt.

Which obviously was how the original DIY artist managed to capture his/her photo too.

But it’s ok! It still looks quite pretty when it’s not turned on and definitely more outstanding than anybody else’s fan around me LOL

I still love it!

Maybe one day I will change the colours of the blades again and this time I will make sure I do more homework about how colours merged so that I won’t end up with a colour that I hate again wtf

I still love it, my DIY rainbow fan! Red heart

BYE!

I feel that men who wear solid white-coloured trousers are very confident men. Perhaps a little too confident if I were to be a bit more critical. Hmm…but that is not what I want to talk about today.

Today I want to talk about the conclusion I have recently come to draw after a series of very annoying events that happened in my life.

Firstly, the conclusion I made is: people are going to treat you based on the negatives they see in your life, whether or they are your fault, rather than judge you based on the positives in your life, even when they are not your achievements.

Do you guys understand me? Ok I think that sentence is a bit too complicated. So uh like, if you come from a poor background, people are going to look down on you. Even though the poorness of your family is not necessarily your fault right? You were just born into the family, you didn’t contribute to the initial cause of the poorness right? But people don’t care about all that. As long as you don’t wear the more expensive shoes or drive the more luxurious cars, automatically their eyes will move up to the top of their foreheads when they talk to you.

Similarly, when you come from a rich background, people are going to praise you, to respect you, to worship you, even though, as I mentioned, your family’s wealth didn’t/doesn’t actually come from your doings. You are only using your parents’ wealth in your life, to purchase expensive shoes and luxurious cars. But do people care about all that? Nope.

I wonder what gives anyone the permission or right to treat someone without respect? Or even the slightest of acknowledgement?

Two scenarios happened to me in the past month.

Scenario 1

I have this uncle who I was quite close to when I was young. I used to attend dance classes (yes, stop laughing please) at this karaoke club and my uncle was a member of that club as well. So we often met and he would always joke with me, talk to me and even present me with occasional gifts.

However, soon I stopped my classes and just like that we never met anymore. Ok not never, but certainly not every week or even every month. We met only probably twice a year? And those meetings were during family gatherings which all of us had to attend.

So anyway soon enough we became as not close as two relatives can possibly be and now, we can’t even hold a conversation.

During the second to last recent meeting I had with him last month; it was a family lunch, we had met at the restaurant. As he walked past me (because I arrived first and was already seated) I called out to him, “Hi, Uncle,” and he completely and whether deliberately or not, I don’t know, ignored me. He didn’t even acknowledge my existence and he just continued to walk past me and greet other people.

I was damn upset after that because why the hell would he ignore me, correct or not. What wrong could I have possibly done in his eyes, having not met him for months before that? I complained to my mum and she said that he probably didn’t hear me due to his deteriorating hearing (though I didn’t see him having any problems communicating with my other cousins). So I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After all, I’ve always been really respectful towards my elders so I don’t see what I could have possibly done to be ignored that way.

Scenario 2

About a few weeks after that meeting, we had a family gathering again; this was a dinner. My mum cooked prawn noodles and everyone was invited to come. This was at my other aunt’s house so this time, he had arrived before me. I walked into the kitchen and he was there eating. I looked to him, and he looked to me too. I greeted him once again, “Hi, Uncle,” and to my horror, he just looked away without the slightest hint of having seen/heard or acknowledging me.

After that type of greeting my mood immediately went down the drain. I had come to my aunt’s house with a happy heart because duh homemade prawn noodles were my favourite and after being treated that way, I didn’t even feel like being in the same house as he was in anymore. I just wanted to leave and go home.

But what could I do? And wouldn’t that have been childish? I bet he wouldn’t even care to notice that I’d left if I did. He’d probably even be happier I wasn’t there, since he seems to hate me so much.

Seriously, till this day, I haven’t a clue why he treats me like that. Did I unknowingly do something wrong? I don’t think I did because activities in my life rarely, or rather never concern him, in the least bit, so why is he angry at me? To this kind of extent?

Could it be because my boyfriend is Muslim and he is against that? Could it be because he was getting richer each day and I am not so I am becoming a smaller and smaller dot in his life? I seriously have no clue.

Could it be that someone has been bad-talking me behind my back? I don’t know who would bad-talk me and I couldn’t think of something I’ve done that is so bad that it would cause my uncle to hate me so much, seriously. If it was a cousin hating me, it’d be much more possible. Like they could hate the way I dress or the fact that I post too many food photos on Instagram or whatever. But why would an uncle be concerned about those things right?

I’m seriously baffled. The closest conclusion I could come to make was because of his wealth and my non-existent wealth. Because before this, his children (my cousins) have ignored me and my sister before too during family gatherings and we always assumed it was because of how we weren’t rich enough thus didn’t deserve to be in their league of relatives wtf.

With the other cousins, they would be fine. They wouldn’t ignore them or whatever. Only with me and my sister. What did we ever do to deserve this type of treatment? Even if it’s because of our apparent poorness, it is technically not our faults that we are poor, right? Even if they have feuds with our parents, those also aren’t our faults right? So why are we the ones being treated this way? (They don’t ignore my parents, probably because of PR. But with kids, they wouldn’t bother much about maintaining good relationships right. That’s probably why.)

I just wish people would be more objective in the way they choose people to ignore.

I have a feeling the internet connection will be super slow because it’s past 6.30pm but I will write this anyway lah. Maybe post it later lah.

So, the semester break is finally over! And as usual, I did nothing productive the entire three months I was home! HAHA about the most productive thing I did is probably going for a 4D4N Bangkok trip with my friends. Other than that, nothing. Hahaha

Oh ya I didn’t get back my previous room this semester in my hostel BOO but I got the second best which is the one next to it! HEHE Yesh! After hours of queuing up with one of my previous roommates, we finally got to the room that is just beside ours! We couldn’t get our previous room because the juniors were already assigned to it.

We almost didn’t get our room ok! The stupid guy who handles the room registration thing didn’t want to give us the room at first. He kept insisting on filling up the lower floors of another block first but what is the freaking point? Whoever lines up first should have the right to choose whichever room they want right? Or not we queue up for what? What kind of stupid logic is this I ask you. So the people who come later than us might get better rooms than what we might get? Or is he just trying to deny every single student the room that he/she wants and give him/her rooms that they don’t want? I seriously don’t understand???

No wonder the line was moving so freaking slow geesh. I told him straight that whoever queues first should be allowed to choose and the other guy beside him also beh tahan and told him to just give us what we want since it doesn’t make a difference anyway. THEN only Mr. Reasonable agreed to let us have the room. FINALLY.

And I got back the single bed! Hehe actually my roommate YT also wanted the single bed, and I said sure why don’t we switch after a semester as in she uses it this semester and I will use it the next. She agreed too but in the end she decided that she’d be ok with the bottom bunk of the bed and insisted I used to single bed! YAY! Awesome!

Ta-dahhhhh!

IMAG4926

IMAG4925

One slight difference though…..

Ta-dahhhhh!

IMAG4927

Only one roommate (so far) this semester so the room is significantly much quieter and neater compared to last year because our other roommate (who talked the most and had the most stuff haha) is now living in a rental house outside UM.

I’m really quite happy with how the semester is starting! So far I’ve already been to two classes only and Intro to Cinematography, which I wasn’t sure if I wanted to take turned out to be quite interesting! The major assignment for this course is…produce a storyboard based on the script given! Haha sounds fun or what?

It’s only been a day here in UM and (so far) I’ve started eating pretty healthy and even went for a one hour brisk walk! This morning I had cereal and for lunch I had 3 types of vegetable dishes from the café’s economy rice store.

IMAG4924

For dinner I’m thinking maybe I will down a cup of cereal drink. Hehe I hope I continue to be this healthy lah!

I am trying to lose weight for my Bali trip because I want to wear my brand new bikini!!! As of now I have roughly a month left, I’ll be flying on October 4th.

Anyway not much going on for me today, just decided to update my blog because it’s been quite a while. So until next time!

Signing off with a gigantic photo of my face of course, what did you expect?

Scholarship application woes…..

1175700_10151822573362722_502871983_n

HI! These few days I’ve been obsessed with preparing all the documents needed for me to apply for these two financial aids (for my studies) and I’ve come to realise that I’ve become super dependent on my boyfriend lately. ==

Okay before I get into that, let me talk a bit about my experience in getting these documents ready and see if I can help you with a bit of tips if ever you need to apply for any scholarships.

When I graduated from secondary school, I tried to apply for the JPA scholarship to study overseas but unfortunately with my less-than-perfect results, I was rejected. After the rejection, my self-esteem took a dip and the dejection only intensified when my best friend, Cherrie got the scholarship. Okay I know I sound like I had sour grapes, but that is not true lah ok. Cherrie was the top student of the year and she scored an almost perfect 10A+ and 1A for her SPM so of course she deserved the scholarship. But when you apply for something at the same timeframe as your friend, of course you would feel a bit, I don’t know, upset about how you fell short right?

Anyway so I joined Form 6 and during my last year, I worked my ass off for STPM. Ok lah to be honest I didn’t really work my ass off, I just became…more interested in my studies at that point because I was beginning to grasp the essentials of the subjects I took. I got excellent results for my exams and trial exam and foolish me thought that STPM would be a piece of cake. Of course I overestimated my capabilities and didn’t score higher than 3.75. My initial aim was to get 4.0 (what did I say about overestimating my capabilities?) but I told myself I would be okay with anything above 3.75 too because I wanted to try for JPA (but this time a scholarship for local studies) again and University Malaya (which both, I was told, only accepted CGPAs of 3.75 and above). As you can imagine, I was chao tah devastated when I got my STPM results but I sat dejectedly waiting for my acceptance letter (for both platforms) nevertheless.

In the end I got accepted into UM (the CGPA thing is a LIE! I guess for certain courses you do need such results (like Econs, Engineering, etc) but I was looking to enrol in Art courses so I worried for nothing. BAH. But of course if you are of a certain race, then atrocious results might also get you into UM to fulfil the ‘race quota’ anyway, as usual) but JPA rejected me. Having been rejected twice (once after SPM, now after STPM), especially after having gone through the tedious process of procuring all the required documents, not to mention various stamps and signatures from professional people to validate the documents, you can sort of understand how shattered I was at the news.

When I first applied for the JPA scholarship for overseas studies, I didn’t think ahead and only had 1 copy of all the necessary documents I needed for scholarship application. This means that when I applied for the JPA scholarship the second time, I had to do everything all over again, stupidly. All the photocopying and chasing after headmasters and lecturers to validate your documents, man, those days were awful. However, I went through it all again, and you can imagine my disappointment when I got rejected yet again. The news is true for this I guess – if you want JPA to sponsor you, you need at least 3.75 (unless, again, if you are of a certain race – race quota mah).

ANYWAY, phew! what a huge backstory, this time, after my first year in UM, I will try AGAIN (because my first year results turned out to be surprisingly satisfactory). This time I won’t mention which scholarship I am applying for because if I don’t get it, it will be too much lah and I don’t want to show that in my blog! This time I made several copies of all required documents in case I need them for future use! So for the last few weeks I went around looking for ADUNs around Selangor and after some exhausting efforts, I located one who actually COMES to his office as stated on the info board (it may be news to you, but a lot of ADUNs just happy-happy come into the office anytime they like, if at all, without regarding the schedule that is pinned on the info board about their supposed appearance at any time. Very big-shot one).

The ADUN I looked for is ADUN of Sg. Pinang and he is none other than YB Dato’ Teng Chang Khim hahahaha I don’t know why but everytime I read his name I feel very close to him like he is my father wtf. Maybe because we share same (Chinese) surnames lol. Anyway, YB’s office in the same building as the steamboat opposite Pelangi Apartment in Klang (behind Klang Parade, it’s the only steamboat shop there, so no missing it). If you look to the top floor you will see the DAP logo so just go up there and you will see him (ok lah, his staff. He only comes to office at 9pm-11pm on Wednesdays. Yes, P.M.)!

I am very glad I found him because the office boy there is very chop-chop and be done and wastes no time in helping you get the stamps and signatures needed. Don’t worry too much about producing flawless evidence/original copies for your photostated documents to be validated though, because they are all quite lax in the office. I mean, be prepared with your evidence lah at least but no need to be too worried about it. They usually don’t ask much.

1234512_10151826277877722_2131002476_n

This photo has zero connection with this post so just ignore it ok. Then again, every photo in this blog post also got no connection with anything in this entry hahahaha. Never mind, they are chio!

So my tips when applying for scholarships:

  1. Always make at least 5 copies of all your documents. (This includes photos and yes, always take passport sized photos with a BLUE background – NO white, no matter how apt you think it is.) Get EVERYTHING stamped and validated at one go. Even if you think you might not need them anymore, just make extra, they will probably come in useful one day.
  2. Use the Internet to look for ADUNs, Pengerusi JKKK, Ketua Kampung etc in your area. Don’t hesitate to call their office to enquire; they are used to this type of work so they will know what kind of advice/instructions to give you.
  3. Prepare your documents completely (bring originals to validate the photocopies) before bringing them over to the professional people/ADUN to be validated. They usually do not entertain incomplete sets of documents.
  4. If your cumulative family income (mother’s income + father’s income + whoever else who is working’s income) is more than RM1.5k, the scholarship people will not entertain your application. If you insist on applying, however, either prepare for rejection or fake your family income statement.
  5. Don’t go around telling people that I am the one who taught you the previous trick.
  6. Lastly, if you really want to prove that you appreciate the scholarship, put effort into your studies and don’t waste the financial aid buying nonsense la ok. Even if you want to spend, make sure you have enough to pay for tuition, and also make sure you DO WELL in your studies.
  7. Don’t waste your time in university if you don’t intend to do your best. Many other people want your spot you know.

Good luck trying and don’t hesitate to ask for help ok! Either from seniors or older siblings or even me wtf. My blog is always open lah ok I will try to help if I can. :D

P/S: I forgot to talk about how dependent I am on my boyfriend lately wtf. Oh well, I guess that will have to make for another blog post. :D

The McGurk Effect

Seriously, I learn the strangest things from 9gag.

This gif-gag I saw featured two elephants playing on a see-saw and even though the gif emmited no sounds, the visuals of the gif made a slight thud in my head everytime the elephant landed on the ground. O.O

http://9gag.com/gag/a6wQjDA

If you can't understand what I mean, here is the link to the gag itself. See if you can hear the slight thud sound your brain makes you hear.

Anyway, so I was immensely fascinated by this and I went to Google it. And I found an explanatory video of what the McGurk Effect is. IT IS SO FASCINATING LAH. If you think you had control of what your brain interpret what it sees or hears, think again. O.O

http://www.wimp.com/mcgurkeffect/

Sorry I couldn't embed the video, just click on the link and watch for yourselves ok.

Seriously though, do not always believe what your eyes tell you to hear! O.O

myBurgerLab

HALO!

Someone please throw confetti all over me because I’ve been blogging so often! LOL So, you know how I’ve been shouting all over the place about how I wanted to try out the burgers at myBurgerLab right…and I finally did!

About some weeks ago my beloved boyfriend brought me to myBurgerLab at Seapark to try them out. Previously we’d come before, and knowing that the shop opened at 5.00pm, we arrived there at 4.45pm to beat the queue.

198288_10151587601487722_335315592_n

Unfortunately, just as we parked our car across the road, we were greeted by a queue of about 7 groups of people and we decided to just leave and come back another day because we were already really hungry.

So this time, we came at 4.30pm and the queue had already started but it wasn’t too long. We came mentally prepared for the queue this time, so the idea of standing in the hot weather outside a (still) closed shop like idiots was easier to bear.

IMG_20130806_1

After 30 minutes under the sweltering weather, at 5.00pm sharp, the lovely people of myBurgerLab pulled the doors open and we were invited to queue in the comforting air-conditioned interior of the quaint and hipster looking shop.

IMG_20130806_2

In front of us were about 4-5 packs of customers so it gave us time to read through the menu board at the front to decide what we would have. The burgers were named quirkily, IE one dubbed the Hangover, another Beautiful Mess, The Hulk etc and all of them were different combinations of interesting and delicious ingredients.

I decided on having a Beautiful Mess, which was a beef burger featuring a generous piece of crispy hashbrown and sautéed mushrooms. Zeus decided on the Hangover, which was a beef burger as well but featured a Portobello mushroom and a sunny side up. We both had add-on orders of caramelised onions because onions (caramelised or not) are my favourite!

Ta-daaaa!

Really looks like a Beautiful Mess right? LOL

The buns are black because they are charcoal buns! They have a soft texture and taste almost like regular burger buns but slightly sweeter with a somewhat smoky undertone. The beef patty is tender and you can tell, homemade, and seasoned quite nicely. Looks good right? :D

The place was packed to the brim! Many early-birds (including us) who managed to secure seats were subconsciously forced to eat quickly, as we didn’t want hold up the later customers and have them eat while standing. So after polishing off our burgers (quite quickly I must say, to my surprise, as I am usually a slow eater) we left the place to allow the newer customers our seats. Have to be considerate!

I conclude that Zeus’s burger tasted much better than mine because the egg added a bit more flavour to the taste whereas my feature ingredient, the hashbrown, although good on its own, when eaten in a burger didn’t bring out any special flavours. In fact, it tasted a bit jelat, like overpowering, because the bread and hashbrown were both carbs. The sautéed mushrooms in my burger were really good though. The caramelised onions we ordered should have improved the taste of our burgers but they only added a small portion of it to our burgers so we were quite unhappy.

I actually complained about this in Instagram and the myBurgerLab people actually came and commented their apology on my photo! Hahaha, so to compensate for that they actually gave me a coupon of a free burger set for my next visit to myBurgerLab! They also told us that if anytime in future we feel that our add-ons are not enough, we can ask for more at the counter and they will happily pile on more onions, egg, mushrooms etc to our request! Talk about wanting to satisfy your customers! They are awesome!

All in all, I would say that the burgers are worth the long waiting queue, but only for the first time, though. :/ I mean, I won’t say that the burgers sucked, but to be honest, they aren’t particularly delicious. Without ketchup and mustard, the burgers tasted a bit bland on their own. If I had to give it a rating, I’d say, maybe 7/10. It is worth a first try though, so go ahead and give it a shot. I mean, I only tasted two types so far, and my sister is in love with their burgers, so different people can have different verdicts right?

2nd anniversary

IMG_20130804_1

8 August 2013 marks the second anniversary of my effortlessly blissful relationship with my beloved boyfriend! Coincidentally my parents’ wedding anniversary also falls on the 8th of August but they’ve been separated for many years already so I don’t know why I’m even mentioning this haha. But it’s such an odd coincident right? :D

Okay lah to tell the truth, the the 8 August 2011 isn’t really the date we got together officially, but kind of the date we got faux married on Facebook wtf. Hahahaha. What happened was I was quite heart-broken and devastated when my ex dumped me so the rebel in me decided to crawl its way out into the open to take over my life. I was excessively flirty with everyone, trying to get boys’ attention and was also super active in my social life that few months after I broke up. It was like I was trying to avenge my broken heart or something. So what better way to show my prick of an ex how it’s done than to get Facebook married to a guy after only parting ways for about 2 months?

So anyway, what was meant to be a joke turned serious and we officially became a couple about a month later. And together we’ve been for two years! :D I only have one thing to say about this though: Be careful what you wish for it might just come true. HAH!

This year we didn’t do anything fancy. We just did what we enjoyed the most and that is, enjoy each other’s company! Hehehe.

He got me a set of beauty products from Body Shop, all strawberry flavoured!

He says that I am a strawberry because I used to have green hair,

like this, and red cheeks (fake one, blusher lol) so now I can smell like one too! Haha I love it!

In return, I didn’t get him anything (I am terrible girlfriend) as I’m quite broke after my trip to Bangkok, so I just made him…

CUPCAKES! Hehe got his name one! It’s homemade chocolate sauce as well. I am a baking genius thankyouverymuch.

It is orange flavoured, hence the colour and also bits of pink lah cos I couldn’t resist pink cupcakes!!! Hehe he said he loved it leh! I am so touched hahaha

Later, we went for dinner at Tony Roma’s to try their famous beef ribs as recommended by Zeus’s (I won’t call my boyfriend by his real name anymore from this blog post onwards) brother and they were really quite fab leh! (I can’t remember the name of the ribs I ordered, but it’s the one that costs about RM70.)

Wah, I didn’t realise the photos I took were so bad wtf

Don’t blame me lah ok, I didn’t use any pro camera, just the camera of my HTC Incredible S HAHA!

The meat was very tender and didn’t have that overpowering beefy taste at all! The gravy was really nicely seasoned too! I highly recommend this to everyone!

Oh, and also, to those who do not eat beef, you really don’t know what you’re missing out leh!

The mash potato was good too! I usually dislike mash potato because I prefer potato cooked with a bit of bite (al dente? LOL) but this one was really buttery and fragrant. It had bits of potato skin in it which countered the mushy taste of the mash so I liked it! I can’t eat mashed potato at like KFC because it is too mushy and it feels disgusting. But this one is good!

For appetiser we decided to try their potato soup. Zeus was sceptical at first, as he always is with any food that doesn’t fall into the ‘conventional’ category, but in the end we agreed to try it lah. It was good! Even Zeus also loved it hor. I can’t be sure if they made the soup from scratch or if they concocted it from a premixed pack, but all in all, it tasted quite good lah. Seasoned at just the right amount and creamy but yet not too overwhelming. Worth a try! (No photos because soups don’t look fab in print ah.)

We also ordered a Caesar’s salad to share and it was really quite good too! It was really worth it as well because for RM19.90, we had our salad served under a big gigantic slab of crispy chicken chop. The meal also comes with an alternative order of grilled chicken, if you prefer it to be less fatty. But of course we ordered the crispy one because crispy food is Zeus’s favourite lol.

After dinner we just walked around and didn’t do muchloh. We just went window shopping, but mostly just talking to each other and laughing and that was the best! It was a great night! I am always super happy when I spend time with my boyfriend. Nothing can go wrong one! Open-mouthed smile
