How come boring posts with boring titles sometimes get into Innit’s most viewed posts?

That is because they have their own gang of friends who would Nang the post just because they know the author, without bothering if the post really is interesting or not.

Do you think it is fair?

If you ask me, I think it is utter bullshit. People should really only give Nangs to posts which have a catchy title (and of course a good post. But you only get to judge the post, AFTER you click on the title, so really, the title is what’s most important. At least in Innit).

Because I think the most important thing in getting Nangs is to be creative enough to think up a click-inviting title.

If your post in the end turns out to be utterly boring, at least you deserved the Nang because of your catchy title.

Many a time I wonder around Innit looking for posts which are worth my reading, based on the amount of Nangs the post has got, and I realised that there is nothing interesting in the post at all.

It got the Nangs merely because the author has friends who automatically Nang the post.

I would accept it if the title is like something utterly interesting, but they are usually boring titles like: “Today is Monday” or “I love ice-cream” and other ordinary stuff.

I am saying this because I think it is really unfair for other authors who might have better things to say. I mean, okay la, probably this is unarguable because how interesting you are really only depends on who is doing the judgment.

But I am solely here to complain about those people giving “Free Nangs”. Hello what the FUCK is Free Nangs?

To me, the whole point that I am posting in Innit is to get publicity for my post and my blog. And not to be the one with the HIGHEST rank in Innit most popular.

I guess in a way, blog readers are usually more attracted to read Most Popular posts rather than searching through the post lists, but tell me, would you feel happy that this ONE TIME your post makes it to Most Popular because of FREE NANGS, but then it turns out you aren’t a good blogger after all, and then people will start JUDGING your blog and swear to never go back there again?

What is the point in reaching to the top entirely by the aid of others when you yourself aren’t good enough in the first place to maintain it?

For example if you are like, Benjicajess, you would automatically get high Nangs for your post, because people know you are a good blogger.

But look at other bloggers who usually only get into Most Popular by their friends’ indiscriminative Nangs, does anybody even KNOW them? Does anybody even REMEMBER their blog links?

No, because they are only POPULAR by FREE NANGS. NOT because they are good bloggers.

And I also hate it when people only give your post Nangs, when in fact, they didn’t even READ your post in the first place.

It is like they are saying your post isn’t good enough anyway, so they are pitying you by giving you Free Nangs just so you don’t feel too bad about yourself.

Take the time to read the post la. If you are free enough to sit around giving Nangs to people, then I am sure you are free enough as well to read someone’s post.

If you don’t think that the post is worth your reading, then DON’T Nang the post. It is fairer and more indicative of who is a better blogger against who isn’t.

Is it fair I ask you?

IS IT FAIR?????

No it isn’t. But if you still think that Free Nangs is a good idea and you think there is nothing wrong, then I won’t try to stop you. I am just voicing out my opinions and frustrations.

Because everytime I click on a Most Popular post, anticipating to read a good post, in the end it turns out to be some stupid boring post about how someone studied Sejarah for exams.

I’m sick of it. I’m tired of it. I’m sick and tired of it.

And I think there are many more bloggers out there who deserve more credits and attention than your friends.

Adioh.

Haha. You don't know the story behind the whole thing. Some posts are in innit top10 coz the blogger actually sends out innit links to other bloggers in their msn asking for nangs. LOL. And also of coz there's this spam of nangs exchanging in innit cbox.

And btw, I do not agree with you bout catchy titles. The content of the post should be the same or if not at least about the same as the title, or else it's just plain cheating.

And you can right click the titles in innit then open in new tab to read the post, then you won't automatically nang the post. =)

OHHHHHHHH I seeeeeeee

haha, well, i guess if there's a way to not nang the post automatically, then its morally wrong to use a super catchy title which has nothing to do with your post. (=

i used to think that once u click to read, you HAVE to nang it. but i guess now its not like that, then we bloggers SHOULD really just use appropriate titles.

whats the use of getting nangs for your bad posts when you're not even good enough to be popular on your own merits right?

thanks for the comment! ;)

TOLANIC said...

The catchy titles? Very easy only as long you use these keywords:

1. Sex
2. Gathering Pictures
3. Cheque from Nuffnang

Sure can attract tons of curious visitors.

Reiko The Rainbow Girl said...

Totally agree with you.

Highest nangs doesn't mean it is a good blog entry.

There are so many hidden gems inside innit.

Jo-Yee said...

tolanic> I SO AGREE MAN! haha... those people damn sold-out

Reiko> yea lor. some really good posts pun tak dapat good nangs. not fair! but some really BAD posts get alot of nangs sigh

Simon Seow said...

But catchy title I sometime kena con one wor, click it and the post turn out to be sucky post. I of course have a choice to dang the post but I don't want to do like that lah.

Yes. I am one of the one that asks friends to nang through MSN as mentioned by Jun Jun but I only asked when I posted a very good post. If I feel that my post is not that interesting, I'll just post it up to Innit and let it be.

In the end, Innit is just one place to ping your post out of so many other. If you want genuine reader to ping, try out PetalingStreet.org.

Well, no doubt about it that if you got friends in innit it does help you to get more nangs. Cos as a friend, I would definitely go to their blogs to read their updates and don't mind nanging them.

However, the recent trend is like what you said, ppl giving out nangs without even reading the post. I stated this fact in the innit cbox b4 but somehow those spammer miraculously disappear whenever ppl talk about stopping the link spam.

Most of those so called 'top 10 most popular' these days are newbies. Hence they are very 'greedy' into getting more nangs. I bet that you sometimes see the cbox being flooded with innit links.

Being in innit for more than a year, I can say that newbies like those come and go, they can get no.1 on the most popular list but nobody will remember them or their blog.

PS: I doubt anyone of the new inniters will read this post. XP

Jo-Yee said...

Simon> I agree. If your friends have updated their blog, and you want to read their blog, then the nang is fine, but what i disagree with is, you just nang your friend WITHOUT reading the post, simply because you know who the blogger is. right?

and about asking ppl to nang, i think it is okay la. as long as u REALLY think your post is a good one and WORTH Nang. btu if its just random updates of your life, how can u ask ppl to nang u right? without merits! then ur friends pun nang u simply bcos u're his friend.

and i believe in self-Nanging bcos, to convince ppl that your post is good, you first have to be CONFIDENT that of your post. so, to nang your post means u r really proud of your post, and would like ppl to read it. (= Nang without reading is just WRONG.

Josh> so true so true!!! =DDDDDDD

"I nang you, you nang me." There are many people out there who have this kind of thinking.

No problem. By the way, a very nice and honest article you got there. Bravo! =)

Jo-Yee said...

thank u! =DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I AGREE with you....Sometimes those short post like "Update of me" suddenly become the most nanged one..JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE POPULAR BLOGGERS..Sigh...

michleong said...

At most everytime I post on innit, I only get 4-5 nangs. Only once yesterday I got about 17 nangs? But that also, I think only 1-3 reads. Others, no. =(

lol now your post is in innit's most popular list!=)
well said about the free nangs thing.it's kinda unfair.==

araleling said...

Totally agree with you, but the order for nang is not appropriate as well, since clicking on the title is automatic nang. Hehehe, now yours is one top for the good cause =D , congratz~~ =3

agreed! Sometimes got frustrated when i click to read the post with top NANG..later found out the post is so boring!

TheJessicat said...

First of all, thanks for that nice mention :)

I share your sentiments gurl. I used to think that whole scene was unfair and ridiculous too, but then again, nothing in life is fair. and after a long long time in innit, I noticed that it works just about the same.

But look on the bright side, at least ur post deserved my nang and everyone elses. Thoughts fueled up with frustration and backed up with strong points. Good job babe. Thumbs up

A fine example. But a very random one, no offense to anyone. Just saw it on innit :

ya it's true..i'm getting sick with stupid top innit too..i try to reach top innit but i can't because there's not too much nuffnanger who wanna read my blog or nang me..like u said, we don't have any nang team..huh!

Bernard Chung said...

Bloggers lost their essence on the true spirit of blogging. I never ask ppl to nang and I can assured u that. I believe that watever written by our own keyboard reserved to wat it is. But the fact that ppl wanna survive, ppl have to protect for their own so-called SURVIVOR. Thus, they spam into MSN, Facebook or Twitter just to tell ppl about their shit event coverage, shit movie reviews, or even shit controversial post (like sex, how to get nangs, how to get traffic, Nuffnang cheque or vulgar title just to catch your attention).

But do remember ppl have choice to dang the post but ppl cant seems to take it.

I used to have a saga with this blogger who endlessly spam and claimed the blog post written is the best. A junk nevermind but the act of spamming really boiled over my limit. So I dang! But he really dissatisfied bcuz i dang and eventually he seeks revenge. I think this is the perfect example on why ppl don dang but nang even if it is a shitpost. They don wanna have a brawl bcuz if u offend one, u lose one nang.

oh btw, i did the similar things back in May...but people will never change..hypocrites ma!!

These people have a few numbers of friends in innit and they nang each other! Even their blog entry IS DAMN boring they got alot of nang too. it's definitely not fair! but no choice... Nothing is fair in htis world.

Alot of those who try to get more nang will put words like "sexy girls, sex, virgin" etc.... -___- But their entry is still no way near interesting.

TMBF said...

lololol I feel you. Ultimately, Innit is nothing more than a popularity contest - certainly not any reflection of truly worthy blog posts. I'm pretty annoyed at some people who are always in the top 10. They get nangs because they're popular, and they're popular because they're popular.

Solution? Just don't care about getting nangs. Write as best you can, promote yourself on Innit or any other site, slowly build your readership. There are people out there who are interested in what you have to say - just let them find you.

Jo-Yee said...

thanks for all the comments guys! =) its good to know that there are many of us out there who think the same and have the same frustration. (=

Like TMBF says, i guess the best we can do is to write the best we can, and one day our potential WILL be discovered ;)

but its kind of a thrill to be in top innit, as so many boring bloggers have shown us, with their desperate ways to get nangs (MSN, fb, friendster etc), lets just hope that in future, Innit wouldnt be TOO sold out anymore that eventually even GOOD bloggers leave Innit.

(=

vvn said...

I agree. Maybe nuffnang should have like a system to monitor the people who is always on the most popular chart?

Jo-Yee said...

vivian> hmm, i thought the whole pur[pose of nuffnang/innit nuffnang is to discover good bloggers thru the most popular list?

Or is it not like that? (= i'm not too sure actually. haha

i cant agree more. like dat not fair one. so next time don b fool by just the title. hehe. :)

tranquility said...

Totally agree with you.

Sometimes when I was browsing through innit, I wonder what happenned to Malaysian bloggers. Like they have no other interesting post title or posts aside from sexual innuendos.

Anyway, we're not obliged to nang those.

Keep up the blogging spirit!

to be frank girl, the world is never fair to begin with.

Wat u wrote here are something BernardGreenTea have highlighted long before you came to this post. He was like the unofficial innit chatbox "moderator" but in the end, he was simply outnumbered.

No matter how hard one tries, the cycle repeats itself. Tonnes of ppl join Nuffnang everyday and more newbies will come to innit and then spam. It'll take some time for them to learn the tools of the trade. When the new batch finally realises that it's not the right thing to do, another new batch comes in. It's a never ending cycle. What can we do about it?

There have been a never ending debate about this. Many have turned their deaf ears to the debate and only a few listened.

As for me, I once stand firm that I would never ask for nangs from anyone, but after some time, I've failed to keep that. All for the sake of more uniques. In the end, I grew bored and tired of it. I never bothered visiting innit, I'm too lazy to nangwhore. I put up my post and let it be. I do ask for nang once a while, only if I have the luxury of time.

FYI, my blog still hovers ard 20-40 uniques despite knowing a bloggers around. 50 if i'm lucky. I couldn't be bothered anymore. There're more meaningful things in life to worry about.

We can't stop them from coming, there're simply too many idiots in the world. We can't educate them all. Instead worry less and focus on what that matters.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4
year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.

She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but
